Recruiting the Emerging Leaders CEO Training participants in March
After the both the Yonkers and SIBL classes started on April 4th
I spent most of the time coordinating the 3rd Int'l B2B Forum, other than the seminars every day 
After getting 41 exhibitors and 34 speakers, I started promoting the event
One e-blast from Bailey, one e-blast from Teresa and one from me
I had to cut off the registration on 4/24 when the # went up to 750

【大紀元20170505日訊】(大紀元記者施萍紐約報導)「我從2000年來美就跟著聯邦小商業部(SBA)的活動,受益匪淺。」在昨天(54日)聯邦小商業部舉辦的「第三屆國際B2B論壇」上,從事醫療事業的王南希操著一口標準的普通話說
王南希說,我只要有空就參加SBA的培訓,在反覆聽課的過程中找到了很多自己需要的東西。
在成功舉辦了兩屆國際貿易論壇後,這是SBA第三次主辦同樣的活動。參加人數也從前兩屆的500人上升到了800多人。同時,有41個政府機構設攤位,34個業內專家講座。與會者可在「如何開創公司」、「如何發展公司」以及「如何擴展國際業務」等主題中做出自己的選擇。
今年最特別的是,SBA邀請了來自包括南非、土耳其、中國等十個國家的貿易機構代表,與紐約小生意企業主討論如何在這些國家做生意。
「這裡最重要的是資訊,這對小商業業主非常關鍵。」王南希說。「你必須得有和政府銜接的、可以掌控的東西,來調整你自己的商業計畫。只商業計畫這一項,我一年就寫兩次,這樣才能讓公司可持續性發展。」
到場論壇的華人除了資深的小商業主,還有想開公司的新人。于先生興奮地走出論壇所在地Ted Weiss聯邦大樓,嘴裡直說「有收穫、有收穫」,他說他在如何融資、如何繳稅方面都獲得了有用的訊息。
不過,郭曼麗認為,和西語裔的小商業主比起來,華人的參與者還不夠多。「你看這裡很多機構都是應西班牙語系的小企業主需求設立的,給華人提供服務的機構並不多。所以我還是希望更多華人生意人來參加這樣的活動,獲得幫助。」如果有小商業發展上的問題,可以聯繫郭曼麗,郵件:man-li.lin@sba.gov,電話:212-264-7060

曼哈頓商業圖書館 小商業主「必需去」
參加論壇的很多都是SBA的合作機構。其中比較最引人注目的一家是「科學工商圖書館」(the ScienceIndustry and Business Library,簡稱SIBL或商業圖書館)。圖書館外聯專家艾斯卡蘭迪(Helena Escalante)介紹說,在紐約市92個公立圖書館當中,88個是社區圖書館,另外4個是資源中心。他們「商業圖書館」就是這四個資源中心的一個。同時,他們也是SBA的合作夥伴,是小商業主必需去的地方。
「圖書館有獨一無二的資源供小商業主享用。」她說。「我們有全美和全球任何行業、任何領域的名錄,你可以了解你的行業狀況、市場情況、潛在合作夥伴以及競爭對手。」
比如你要開個三明治小吃店,開在哪裡最合適?SBA紐約經濟發展專員郭曼麗說:「我們華人都不習慣做市場調查,在開店之前不了解那個地區的社區、人口組成,有多少華人,多少個同類商家等,這些信息都可以在商業圖書館中查到。
